Press Release Author = Reading Reform Foundation

Industry = Education

Press Release Summary = Guest speaker Jim Rose CBE will be joined by Professor Diane
McGuinness, Sue Lloyd, Ruth Miskin, Jennifer Chew OBE and Debbie Hepplewhite as
between them they paint a picture of the Literacy scene in the UK.

Press Release Body = For anyone with the slightest interest in literacy, this really
is an event not to be missed. To be held in London on Friday 3rd November 2006, this
is a rare opportunity to meet some of the biggest names in literacy development in
the UK.

For one day only, and under one roof, you will have the opportunity to meet with
those researchers, authors, programme developers, educationalists and practitioners
who have influenced government policy to help shape a better future for our
children.

Delegates will be welcome to ask questions in writing before the event and the day
will include a Q and A opportunity to put questions before a panel of speakers.

RRF website editor, Debbie Hepplewhite, said, \"All credit to a wonderful lady, Mona
McNee, who founded the UK branch of the RRF in 1989. Many people have known about
the common sense of synthetic phonics teaching for many decades. Let\'s hope this
change leads the way for compulsory objective testing of any further initiatives
that people in positions of political influence wish to bring in. Opinions and
preferences and political posturing are not good enough reasons for change.\"

The conference kicks off at 9am at the Clore Management Centre, Birkbeck College,
London, breaking for lunch around midday and winding up at 3.30pm. Places are
limited and further information can be found on the Reading Reform Foundation
